ABOUT THE FARM

Four kids, thirty head, and forty acres of Iowa.

We put down roots on 40 acres south of Kalona, Iowa back in 2013, and we’ve been slowly building something we’re proud of ever since. These days, we run around 30 head of cattle and raise four kids on the same land, and honestly, it’s hard to tell who keeps us busier.

Micah’s family has been part of this corner of Iowa for four generations, so this land isn’t just home; it’s in his blood. Erin came from a little further away. She grew up in San Diego, which means she traded the Pacific Ocean for wide open spaces, and we’d like to think she got the better end of the deal.

Together, we’re building something that’s equal parts hard work, good beef, and family.

HOW WE RAISE OUR BEEF

No shortcuts. No rushing. Just good beef.

Our Angus herd roams freely across 30 acres of natural pasture, grazing on grasses through every season. Everything we do is built around calm animals, healthy land, and flavor you can taste.

01

Free to graze, fed with care

In winter we supplement with hay, some from our own farm, some from neighboring land farmed by family. It matters to us that we know exactly where our feed comes from.

02

Land that recovers

We rotate our pastures seasonally to prevent overgrazing and give the land time to rebuild. The farm that feeds our cattle today has to thrive for the next generation too.

03

Unhurried, skillful work

Our cattle spend 20 to 24 months on the farm before harvest. No added hormones, no growth stimulants, no routine antibiotics. When the time comes, we work with a local Amish butcher.

WHY A LITTLE CRACKED CORN

The whole herd runs to meet him.

We supplement with a little cracked corn, and we’ll tell you exactly why. First, it adds marbling, and marbling adds flavor. Second, it keeps the herd friendly. Our cattle know when Micah’s around. When they see him coming across the pasture, they run to meet him. That’s the kind of relationship you can only build when animals are calm, well-cared for, and never stressed.

AROUND THE FARM

An open book.

Walk the pasture, meet the herd, and see exactly where your food comes from.
